In 1986, California voters approved the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, known as Proposition 65, requiring businesses to provide warnings to customers about potential exposure to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Certain products purchased for sale to California consumers are covered by Prop 65 and require a Prop 65 warning.
